The Value Curve

A patent doesn't hold one value. It climbs a curve.

Most people think a patent is worth a fixed number. It isn't. Its value steps up at every legal milestone — from a filed application to a proven, globally-granted family. Enter at the floor, hold through the climb.

The Floor

The floor is the filing

The single largest jump in a patent's life is also the cheapest act: converting an idea into a filed, dated priority right. An unprotectable idea becomes a legal position no one can leapfrog — for a few thousand euros. Everything after builds on that locked-in floor.

Every family in our portfolio has already cleared this step. The floor is set.

The Gates

Each milestone re-rates the whole position

A patent's value doesn't rise in a straight line. It jumps at each gate:

Examination survived — when the claims hold up under a patent office's scrutiny, grant stops being a gamble and becomes visible. The value re-rates on information alone, before grant.

First grant — the application becomes an enforceable monopoly. You can license, settle, and injunct. Expectation becomes a right.

Each gate collapses a layer of uncertainty. The earliest holder captures every step that follows.

Global Rights

Global rights multiply — they don't add

This is where the real value is made. A patent granted in one market protects one market's rent. The same family granted across the United States, the European Union and China protects each of them — and locks the manufacturing, the market, and the import chokepoints at once.

Breadth and claim strength multiply. A family covering the world's major economies is worth far more than the sum of single grants. It stops being a licence and becomes an acquisition target.

The Method

We engineer the curve deliberately

Most patent holders file once and drift — leaving the value sitting at the floor, decaying as renewal fees pile up. We do the opposite. Our factory is built to move each family up the curve on purpose:

File first — lock the floor cheaply, before anyone else can.

Validate before filing — our scientists prove each invention with digital-twin simulation, so claims are built to survive examination — capturing that re-rate at the lowest cost.

Stack the jurisdictions that matter — we file into the markets that carry real rent, not everywhere blindly.

Every gate we clear is a step-up the holder captures.

Enter at the floor. Hold through the climb.

This is what "buy early" actually means — not a slogan, but the geometry of the asset. You enter at creation cost, on a filed and validated family, and hold as the factory moves it up a convex curve of legal and commercial proof. The earliest entry gets the floor. Everything above it is upside.

The value curve illustrates how patent value accretes through legal stage gates. Risk-adjustment bands are directional and illustrative, not a forecast or guarantee of any specific outcome. A patent's value ultimately depends on grant, validity, enforceability and market demand, none of which is assured — including for pending applications, which may not be granted.
